Breathing for Calm

Slow the cycle. Keep the tool. These timers are for a structured pause — not a meditation course.

This set

Calm on this site means a slower or more even cycle than everyday breathing, with the interactive timer above the fold. Box breathing is the default start: four equal sides and a square to follow. 4-7-8 lengthens the exhale and adds a longer hold. Coherent breathing is a fixed 5-5 with no holds. Extended exhale and relaxation breathing (4-2-6) are the gentler long-out options. This page is a curated set, not every technique in the directory. For what a cycle is, read what is a breathing cycle.

Timers

How to choose

  1. If you want equal sides and a square marker, start box breathing.
  2. If you want a longer exhale and can sit with a hold, start 4-7-8 or relaxation (4-2-6).
  3. If you want even in and out with no holds, start coherent 5-5.
  4. Leave when the session ends. There is no streak to keep.

When people use it

People open a calm timer between tasks, after a tense moment, or when they want a numbered pattern instead of an article. These are informational tools, not treatment. For evening wind-down with a darker screen, use the sleep hub. For a two-minute tactical reset, use the focus hub.
