How it works
The custom timer uses the same engine as every other page. You set inhale, a hold after inhale, exhale, and a hold after exhale. Set a phase to 0 to skip it. At least one phase must stay above 0. Prefer a named technique first? Start with box breathing or equal breathing.
How to do it
- Enter seconds for each phase. Ranges: inhale 0–20, holds and exhale 0–30.
- Set a phase to 0 to turn it off.
- Choose a session length, then press Start.
- The pattern stays in this browser until you change it.
Session duration
Pick any session length after you set the phases. One or two minutes is enough to test a new pattern; five or ten minutes suits a settled practice once the timings feel right.
When people use it
People use the builder when a named technique is close but not quite right, or when they want holds off entirely.
FAQ
What can I customize?
Inhale (0–20 s), hold after inhale (0–30 s), exhale (0–30 s), and hold after exhale (0–30 s). Set a phase to 0 to disable it.
Does my pattern sync across devices?
No. The pattern stays in this browser’s local storage. There is no account.
How long should a custom session be?
Choose any preset or custom length before Start. Short sessions are useful while you test timings.
Is this medical advice?
No. Long holds are easy to type and hard to sit through. These timers do not provide medical advice.
