How it works

Focus breathing is a two-minute tactical reset using the same 4-4-4-4 counts as box breathing, but with the expanding block visual and a two-minute default. It is a short structured reset between tasks, not a second square-orbit page. For the square marker visual and a five-minute default, open box breathing.

How to do it

  1. Inhale four, hold four, exhale four, hold four.
  2. Watch the block expand and contract rather than a travelling marker.
  3. The default session is two minutes. Change it if you want longer.
  4. Leave as soon as you are done. There is no course to finish.

Session duration

The default session is two minutes — shorter than box breathing’s five-minute default — so it fits a quick tactical reset. Switch to five or ten minutes if you want a longer equal-phase practice.

When people use it

People often use this before work, before a race warm-up, or between tasks when they want a brief structured reset. Prefer the square visual? Use box breathing. Prefer a double-inhale reset? Try the physiological sigh.
